Wade Green, Jr.
Wade Green, Jr. serves as Counsel to the Inspector General, where he leads the Office of Counsel, providing impartial and strategic legal guidance to ensure compliance with the Inspector General Act and other federal laws. He has over two and a half decades of experience in federal service, most of it at the executive level.
Wade’s federal career began in 1999 at the U.S. Department of Labor, where he started as an ERISA investigator. After completing law school, he advanced to a Law Clerk position before becoming a Senior Trial Attorney in the Plan Benefits Security Division. In this capacity, Wade was part of a select group of 32 attorneys with nationwide authority, tasked with safeguarding employees’ retirement savings. He successfully prosecuted high-profile cases involving major U.S. airlines, international banks, and global corporations.
Before joining the Office of the Inspector General in 2009, Wade served as Deputy Associate Solicitor for Management at the Department of Labor’s Office of the Solicitor. There, he supervised a wide range of legal matters, from fiscal law to federal district court litigation, leading a team of attorneys responsible for advising on complex, high-stakes issues in federal labor law.
Wade’s international experience includes serving as Associate Legal Counsel to the Inspector General at USAID and as Assistant General Counsel for Labor and Economic Reform at the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad. In Baghdad, under the direction of the White House, Wade played a critical role in transitioning Iraq from a state-run to a market-based economy, helping draft and implement key economic and labor reforms.
He holds undergraduate degrees in Middle Eastern Political Systems and Islamic Religion, along with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia. Wade has further enhanced his professional ability through advanced studies at the Arabic Language Institute in Morocco and by completing executive education programs at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, MIT, and NYU to name a few. He is also a certified mediator and ethics official.
In recognition of his distinguished service, Wade has been honored with several awards, including the Valor Award for his contributions in Iraq, as well as commendations for his volunteer efforts following Hurricanes Rita and Katrina.
He is a licensed attorney in both Georgia and the District of Columbia.
